Hi Audrey - hello, I don't think we've met before. I was diagnosed earlier this year, and had a DAS score of 7, so I can really sympathise with how you're feeling. Have you suffered with RA for a long time, or is this relatively recent? It must be very hard for you, and I'm so sorry.

About your eye, this sounds serious and I think you should get it checked out asap - you can't be too careful where your eyesight is concerned. If it still hurts a lot today, maybe you could make a visit to A&E, and get it seen, otherwise I'm sure the optician would see you tomorrow as an urgent case. It could well be just a simple infection but with RA and all the meds we are on, it's best to be sure.

Best wishes Sylvia xx

Hi Audrey - so sorry you've been feeling bad for that long - have you seen the consultant again, because it sounds like your meds need changing? I'm so glad that you're back on the forum - I find it so helpful to chat on with everybody, and hope you do too. It's like being part of an extended family because we've got something in common, even if it is our nasty RA

Best wishes - Sylvia xx

Hi
I agree with everyone else, painful eyes need checking out.
I know some meds for RA can effect the eyes, and that we need regular eye checks.
Hope you get on ok.

Hi Audrey, love your name it brings back happy memories of an old friend. I've had ra for 6 years now, but only got into modern technology and the forum earlier this year. Good to meet you.
I really sympathise with you, it took ages to get mine sorted and find meds that worked for me.
I've never had eye problems with meds but do have annual eye tests taking hydroxy.
I have read about others though on here. I'm sure they will post soon, but do get it checked out, and let us know how you get on.

Hi,
There was a post and reply in "DRUGS" a few weeks ago.
Dry eyes are quite common with RA. Take care and get seen. Anne

Hi
I have suffered from dry eyes for a couple of years now although my RA was diagnosed 23 years ago and is well controlled on Enbrel. I finally asked for a referral to see a specialist and am very glad that I did. There was a slight erosion of the tear film on my right eye so I was put on Viscotears and Hypromellose drops which seem to have done the trick and they feel much better!! Just can't risk using much eye make up - eye liner is an absolute no no - otherwise the next day my eyes are completely bloodshot and dry. I have also been more prone to eye infections so I am very careful when I go swimming. Just recently the opthalmologist has given me a lubricating ointment to use at night - completely blurs my vision for hours but it does work!! You might have to push to get to see a proper specialist but it's worth it. Hope this helps. Lynn x
